WHAT IS THE CENTER FOR ANXIETY AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE (CASA)?
CASA is a research laboratory housed within the
Department of Psychology under the direction of Dr. Lindsay Ham. Lab
members include FIU graduate, undergraduate, and post-undergraduate
research assistants. Research focuses on anxiety disorders and substance
use disorders in adulthood and late adolescence. A major theme of
current projects is the interplay between social anxiety and problem
drinking among college students, with a goal of developing a better
understanding of the relationship by identifying risk factors and
protective factors (e.g., positive and negative alcohol outcome
expectancies) for developing alcohol use disorders
